June in Britain
My monthly round-up of the fun happening across Britain includes a new age rave, sheep shearing, sea shanties, literary celebrations and more. It’s also my last monthly post for Anglotopia but I’m sure there will be more opportunities in the future.
Handel Hendrix House
London’s layered history often throws up wonderful coincidences. But to find the legacies of two iconic figures in musical history who lived in neighbouring Mayfair buildings is a good one. There’s been a £3 million refurbishment here so let me show you what to expect.
Tate Britain Rehang
Tate Britain has completed its first rehang in ten years. The hope is that the collection of 800 artworks is now more diverse and there are some heavy-handed nods to this throughout the galleries. I thought it was a really enjoyable collection and I’ve already been back for a return visit.
Paolozzi Pimlico Sculpture
Have you seen this metal sculpture outside Pimlico station? It’s Grade II listed and was designed by Eduardo Paolozzi in the 1980s. But what is it?
What’s Planned This Month?
I’m hoping to see the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and visit a National Trust property in Kent (which one is still to be decided). I have a trip to Bath but will mostly be escorting the teen to see the university. And then I’m heading to Wales for a few weeks to housesit at my friend’s church again. (Here’s how that went last time.) Would you stay on your own in a church? Thankfully, there’s a modern home within the older church. And I’ll have a lovely five-year-old lad staying to look after me.
